Kennedy is the winner of the CBS show Wickedly Perfect, which touted itself as naming America's next great stylemaker. "I was a fan of hers when she was on the show," says Blazek, a Charlotte event planner. "I just had a baby and was home a lot in the evenings. After she won, I kept up with her on her Web site."
In November, Blazek sent Kennedy an e-mail offering to throw her a party if she was ever in Charlotte. To Blazek's surprise, Kennedy called her the next day.
"We had a lot in common," says Blazek, former catering director at Quail Hollow Club.
Blazek chose RedSky for the party because she wanted a space that wasn't traditional, and she recruited her former Chicago restauranteur hubby to put together the gourmet eats.
In addition, to signature cocktails, the menu featured tuna tartar, lamb lollipops and more. "It was a really great mix of people," Blazek says.
